Breakfast All Day Podcast 4/5/19

It’s only fitting that we’re a week late on “The Beach Bum.” Moondog can’t show up on time for anything, so why should we? Still, Alonso and I are conscientious enough to play catch up with the Matthew McConaughey stoner comedy on this week’s Breakfast All Day. We also review the Claire Denis space drama “High Life” and the 1972 Aretha Franklin concert film “Amazing Grace.” And we discuss some of the movies that exhibitors and journalists having been catching sneaks peeks of all week in Las Vegas at CinemaCon — which is the reason Matt isn’t with us. So sit back and relax with the beverage (or substance) of your choice and enjoy the smooth sounds of our latest episode.

  1. Thanks for the reviews! Would you guys consider reviewing Paddleton, the Netflix movie? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

  2. checked three sources and they all pronounced ‘wastrel’ as waste-trel. Was there a reference to WASPs earlier in the podcast though, that would have thrown Alonso off.

      • you guys were not taken with it! your reaction reminded me of something Stanley Kubrick said:

“To see a film once and write a review is an absurdity,” he said. “Yet very few critics ever see a film twice or write about films from a leisurely, thoughtful perspective. The reviews that distinguish most critics, unfortunately, are those slambang pans which are easy to write and fun to write and absolutely useless. There’s not much in a critic showing off how clever he is at writing silly, supercilious gags about something he hates.”

  3. Are you guys planning on reviewing The Twilight Zone reboot? Please do. Since True Detective ended, y’all have not picked up a new TV Show to review!
