We’re all searching for our inner superheroes this week on Breakfast All Day. Alonso, Matt and I review “Captain Marvel,” the first film to focus on a female character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and “Gloria Bell,” in which Julianne Moore discovers her own powers as a Los Angeles divorcee. We also review the time-twisting German drama “Transit” and “I’m Not Here” starring J.K. Simmons, which plays with time in ways that are far less profound. And we made ourselves endure the grueling, four-hour HBO documentary “Leaving Neverland,” about the sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson. 1. Love the podcast, especially since you don’t just focus on the huge releases. Sorry none of you got to see or cared to discuss Woman at War. This movie needs more word of mouth than it’s getting.

  2. YouTube is a joke for deleting the
Neverland review. Is upsetting Jackson honks a violation of their terms of service?

  3. Watched Gloria, Chilean version of Gloria Bell. Mediocre. Maybe I lost something in translation. If not, don’t understand what makes this story so remarkable it needed a remake. Did you guys already say that?

Loved the humor in Captain Marvel. Samuel Jackson was hilarious. Brie Larson did an excellent job leading this cast. Her “I can’t believe I’m a super hero in a Marvel franchise” facial expression added to her appeal. As I believe you all said in review, the movie was a tad long, but the abundant action balanced the final product.
