We’re finally up to “Black Panther,” one of our complete favorites and a movie we’d been looking forward to revisiting since the beginning, on this week’s episode of Marvel Mondays. Nicolas and I talk about how sad it is to watch Ryan Coogler’s film following the death of Chadwick Boseman, how it features a villain in Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger who has an understandable reason for his actions, the philosophical debate about whether to protect the Vibranium and keep Wakanda peaceful and isolated or share it for the greater good and risk entering the world’s skirmishes, and what an emotional experience it was for Black moviegoers to see themselves on screen in this heroic capacity. We love this movie so much for so many reasons, so it was a joy to have a lengthy conversation about it. We’d love to hear your thoughts, too, and thanks as always for listening to our Breakfast All Day miniseries.
