Breakfast All Day Podcast 9/6/19
Like the members of the Losers Club, we’re all together again after being away from each for a little while on Breakfast All Day. Alonso, Matt and I review the thrilling, sprawling horror sequel “It Chapter Two” and the Korean-American indie drama “Ms. Purple,” and we play catch-up with “The Peanut Butter Falcon,” since at least a couple of us had seen it and so many of you expressed interest in it. (Thanks for the Instagram feedback!) And over at our Patreon, we discuss several new trailers including “Waves” and “Black Christmas,” and Alonso tells us about his time at the Venice Film Festival. Glad you caught up to Peanut Butter Falcon! It’s so good. I was worried about how they would treat Zack’s character, but they handled his character well and gave him the space to share his talent. As you mentioned, he’s got comedy chops. He’s great in it, and the movie makes some important points about people who have Down Syndrome that aren’t heavy-handed. I felt like it had a Jeff Nichols vibe, but your Beasts reference is on point. My five year-old has DS and I’m excited to share the movie with him in a few years.
