Everything’s better down where it’s wetter in this week’s episode of the What the Flick?! Podcast. Alonso and I dive into the gonzo superhero movie “Aquaman,” as well as the surprisingly good “Transformers” prequel “Bumblebee.” We also slog through Robert Zemeckis’ mawkish “Welcome to Marwen.” Ben joins us to revel in the greatness of the gorgeous Polish drama “Cold War.” And we remember the career of actor and director Penny Marshall, who died this week (and took a piece of our childhood with her). We are your early Christmas present, so unwrap us and enjoy.

Thank you, Tom Huffman, for the time markings. Helps when I go back to listen to a certain part of review. Cheers!
Who chooses the music? Typically excellent.
Why thank you. That would be me.
Great episode! and the sound quality is back on track
Really funny review of Aquaman. Thanks for the chuckle.
These podcasts are officially the best part of my week
Thanks for listening, Daniel!
Christy… in your podcast you and Alonso were mentioning how difficult it was to find the Marwencol documentary. My wife and I found it on the Kanopy streaming ap. Do you know about Kanopy? It is great… it is a free film streaming ap focused on indies, classics and documentaries… the A24 catalog is thrown in for good measure as well. It is free to the user because it is marketed to and paid for by your local library. If you have a local library card you can sign up. It is truly the best streaming deal for film buffs right now.
Good to know, thanks!
What song is playing at the beginning?
It’s “Ocean Breathes Softly” by Modest Mouse.
Happy Holiday It’s Been A Journey With Great Episodes Cheers
Great sound! Merry Xmas!
Pretty sure Aquaman’s girlfriend said only royalty was able to breathe both underwater and on the surface. Have you checked out Kim’s Convenience on Netflix? One of the best representations of immigrant culture I’ve ever seen, and very funny besides.
Hey guys! Long time fan here! Was wondering if WTF is available on podcast apps or is it only viewable/hearable on this site.
Would love to know!
Keep up the amazing work!
You can do that now, actually: For Apple Podcasts: Library tab ➡️ Edit ➡️ Add a Podcast by URL ➡️ type in “http://www.christylemire.com/feed ” (it won’t work without the “http://www”) ➡️ success. But we have something else planned in the new year, and thanks!
good as always, looking forward to the new year “surprise”!
Amber Heard’s character packed the green gill suit in a suitcase. Peeps out during a scene where they’re on the airplane over Sahara just before she jumped out (without the suitcase) … while she’s wearing the white linen suit.
I LOVED Aquaman. Jason Momoa mesmerized me. OMG. Does he talk . . . who’s paying attention to his dialog when he’s on screen.
Not a Heard fan … she done Capn’ Jack wrong. But I still enjoyed the entire 2.5 hours.
Hi, Jozie! Good to see you. Thanks for figuring that out. I was boggled!
Aquaman was dumb but I had a great time watching it. And one of the best Art Direction of any super hero movie I have seen. I want to correct you guys on some technicalities, (the “high born” can breath air) but who cares, the movie is ridiculous…and ridiculously fun.
CJ, you are so right . . . it’s a comic book come to life. The technicalities didn’t bother me one bit. However, as a techie nerd, I’d love to know how the hair floats when I know they’re not under water. Great visual.
