What the Flick?! Podcast 10/25/18

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? They’re questions that apply to both of the big movies we review on the latest What the Flick?! Podcast: Luca Guadagnino’s thrillingly gonzo “Suspiria” remake and the frustratingly safe Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which Ben, Alonso and I discuss a week early. Alonso and I also take a look at a few smaller films: Jonah Hill’s personal coming-of-age movie “mid90s,” the gripping filmmaking documentary “Shirkers” and the black-and-white AIDS drama “1985.” Anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter — we’re still here for you, every week, so thanks for sticking with us.

  1. I’m so glad you guys are doing a show every week. Hopefully one day soon we will see you along with hear you. Keep up the great work.

  2. I love listening to you. But I am really looing forward seeing you again on yt.

You don’t need a fancy studio or professional cameras. Use your Iphone and your kitchen as a studio. For us fans that would be more than enough. 🙂

  3. I just wanted to chime in to express my support and gratitude for “WTF: The Reboot”.

As someone who rarely posts comments on the internet, I broke with precedent to remind you that for every supporter who does posts a reply, there are 20x more that are quietly appreciating your work.

  4. The rundown doesn’t mention it, and some people may have missed it, but as Alonso mentioned very quickly at the end, we can now add this “WTF 2.0” to our podcast app by specifying the following URL:

    http://christylemire.com/feed

For example, on Apple devices, open the Podcast app, go to Library, then Edit, select “Add a podcast by URL”, enter the above and click Subscribe. It may take a few seconds to confirm the addition.

If you use some other podcast apps, they all should have ways to “add subscription by URL” similar to the above.

Now we don’t need to obsessively check this page for new episodes, not that I’ve ever done it myself.

  5. Thank you Christy and everyone else for continuing the show! It’s my favorite weekly show that I never miss. I’m another lurker who has watched for several years but never comments.

Have you considered providing time stamps for the different film reviews or making them into individual segments by film like the show was before ? I like to come back and listen to the films I see and living outside of major metro area it can take awhile for some films to show up so it’s a challenge to find the review later in an hour long podcast.

Also I’d seen Shirkers at Full frame film festival in April – it’s surprisingly intriguing. Glad to hear it’s getting wider distribution! Are you planning to talk about A private war? I saw it a couple weeks ago at a local festival and I can’t stop thinking about it or Shoplifters.

  6. Have you guys thought about putting the times each review starts in the description? That way we can easily go back or skip forward to certain reviews in the clip.

  7. Hey! I’m from Brasil and used to love your Youtube channel. I was so heartbroken when you didn’t post anymore videos. So I looked for any news or something to know where you guys could be. It took a while, but then I found your site, Christy. Now I’m a happy man again. Lol! Please don’t stop your podcast. Hope to see you guys in camera again soon.
Awesome work, Christy, Alonso, Matt and Ben.

  8. Please make the podcasts a little shorter. It’s been impossible for me with work and kids to fully listen to your show. Great work by the way, I really miss your youtube channel.
