Wine the Flick?! — A Quiet Place

I’ve been a fan of Silversun Pickups for a long time, so I was thrilled to learn that Brian Aubert, the band’s lead singer and guitarist, is a fan of What the Flick?! too. And since he loves movies so much, I knew I had to bring him with me to a screening and do a Wine the Flick?! video afterward. I chose “A Quiet Place” at the ArcLight Hollywood because the trailer was just riveting and it got tremendous early reviews out of South by Southwest. But pretty quickly into director, co-writer and star John Krasinski’s masterfully tense horror movie, I knew I couldn’t wait to talk to Brian about its gripping sound design. This is the punchiest Wine the Flick?! video yet; besides being a sweetheart of a guy, Brian has a really quick, playful sense of humor that kept me on my toes. I hope you’ll enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed shooting it.

  1. I saw the Silversun Pickups play a small club in Boston back in 2007 🙂 So it was a really lovely surprise to see Brian in a Wine The Flick! video and to know he loves movies too. I really enjoyed the conversation, though I haven’t seen the movie yet.

Hi Christy, I watch the What the Flick! videos too, though I’ve only lately found your site.

Now I’m not on twitter, but I have a suggestion for #ChristybyRequest.
So can I make it in these comments?- please say yes cuz I have a good idea!
Bollywood! – you can’t say no to that, it’ll be fun (and I have suggestions ready!!)

Thanks and Happy Easter to you and your family!!

    • Good morning and Happy Easter to you, as well! You are welcome to suggest a movie to me here (but I will admit that I am by no means an expert on Bollywood). And that’s so cool that you saw them play so long ago, especially in a place so intimate. Must have been fun.

      • Ok, I picked the film English Vinglish from 2012.
It’s about a woman who travels from India to New Jersey to visit her sister for several weeks, and her experiences there, given she doesn’t speak much English. It’s something new immigrants to the States often confront, so it’s a very relatable film and easy to follow.
It’s sweetly funny, has a female lead and I thought you’d enjoy watching it.( you don’t have to be an expert.)

Now throw it in the bowl. 🙂
