What the Flick?! — Nymphomaniac: Vol. 1
That wacky Lars Von Trier. Who knew he was funny? Much has been made about the graphic nature of this film, in which Charlotte Gainsbourg plays a sex addict recounting her exploits for Stellan Skarsgard. But not only is it not a titillating experience, it’s also lighter and more playful that you might expect — and more decent toward its self-loathing female heroine.
Dear Christy, I have enjoyed all your reviews, esp when you were on Roger’s last show At The Movies. But I thought the review of Nymphomanic Vol 1 was one of the worst from you three, esp. Alfonso, who was “all over the place,” talking in circles, not at all focusing on what the film really was –
A psychological study of a sex addict & her relationship with an intellectual but introverted man.
