Cameron Crowe’s latest, “Aloha,” is so baffling that I’m not even going to bother trying to explain the plot to you here. But it definitely shows the signs of massive re-editing, and not in a good way. Maybe a great film is hidden in there somewhere. We’ll have to wait for the director’s cut to […]
Good to be back on Studio 11 LA. Bob, Lauren and I talked about a couple of different kinds of summer disaster movies: “San Andreas” and “Aloha.” Enjoy. Watch the clip here
First of all, I’m not sure why I care so much. I said this to my husband this morning after the Academy Award nominations came out and I was thoroughly worked up over how terrible they were. I’m not sure why any of us care so much, actually. Maybe it’s because we see movies to […]
Walt Disney Pictures Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for some language. Running time: 121 minutes. Three stars out of four. “Guardians of the Galaxy” is the cheekiest, wackiest sci-fi blockbuster you’ll see all summer. Great cast, inspired visuals and a blast of a soundtrack of ’70s pop tunes which will be stuck in your head long afterward. Trust me.
This is my favorite part of being a critic: the privilege of choosing the 10 best films of the year. In a year like 2013, it’s incredibly hard to narrow it down to just 10. I probably could have picked 10 more, easily — but the internal debate is part of the fun. I hope […]
“American Hustle” is absolutely one of the best films of the year in a year packed with great films. David O. Russell’s ’70s crime romp is ridiculously entertaining in all the best possible ways. My rare four-star RogerEbert.com review. Read the review here
We all had a complete blast at “American Hustle,” one of the year’s best films and one that will appear very high on both Alonso’s and my top 10 lists.
One of the best films of the year, “American Hustle,” is in theaters this weekend. So is the second of Peter Jackson’s three films based on “The Hobbit.” Lauren Sivan and I discuss them, as well as the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, on Studio 11 LA. Watch the clip here
