“Frozen,” the latest Disney musical extravaganza, preaches the importance of embracing your true nature but seems to be at odds with itself. Little girls will absolutely love it, though — and it is never short of gorgeous to watch. My RogerEbert.com review. Read the review here
Lionsgate PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some frightening images, thematic elements, a suggestive situation and language. Running time: 146 minutes. Three stars out of four. Here’s how effective “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is: I read the book it’s based on, I knew what was going to happen, yet still found myself […]
I swear, I meant to get my act together today and write a review of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Really, I did. But then I had back-to-back, 4-year-old birthday parties to attend. The boys and I get all warm and fuzzy over “Frozen,” which is pretty and charming and has some surprises but is, at its core, a solid and safe Disney princess movie.
Vince Vaughn climbs inside a blanket of warm, snuggly earnestness in the high-concept, feel-good comedy “Delivery Man.” It’s not exactly the best fit, as we discuss in our What the Flick?! review.
DreamWorks Pictures Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, sexual content, some drug material, brief violence and language. Running time: 103 minutes. Two stars out of four. Vince Vaughn tries to escape his inherent Vince Vaughnishness — with mixed results — in “Delivery Man.” Only the very slightest traces of his well-worn, on-screen persona — the fast-talking, […]
This weekend, I’m heading to Las Vegas for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, a blast of a race that takes runners up and down the Strip at night. Lights glitter and flash, bands play every mile or so and the street is packed with runners dressed as Elvis impersonators, brides and grooms (because there’s […]
